Herman Charles Bosman wrote about the Marico bushveld here and got it exactly right — it has not changed much. Cattle country, mampoer, the Magaliesberg on the eastern edge, and the Kalahari fringe to the west. It is not a province people plan trips to. It is one they discover by taking a wrong turn and finding something better than what they were looking for.
